The Morris County St. Patrick’s Day Parade on Saturday drew what some officials are calling a record crowd, much more than 50,000 people according to a parade organizer, leading to long lines at local pubs and restaurants, not to mention public restrooms.
“I’ve never seen that many people in Morristown,” said Mayor Tim Dougherty.
Robert Nace, president of the parade’s board of trustees, said on Monday that Saturday’s parade drew “perhaps the largest crowd we’ve ever had.”
In past years, parade organizers have estimated some of the crowds to be in the 50,000 range. Town officials have not offered an estimate, but Nace said Saturday’s crowd “easily could have been 80,000.”
